Meet the team at Art Dumay

After my studies in Tropical Agronomy and Environmental Sciences, I worked for years in an advisory role to companies. What I saw then in the entrepreneurs I assisted was the passion with which they conducted their business; that has always stayed with me. My youth was characterized by a lot of art and antiques around me; from home I got that love but also a mercantile spirit. After 12.5 years of employment in the environmental world and after a study and internship in the art world, Art Dumay was born: now 22 years ago.

As commercial director, I am and feel responsible for advising our clients about the valuation, purchase or sale of art and for looking for beautiful collections in the market. Bringing one work of art from one passionist to another passionist: that is what drives me. If I had a second life, I could and would be an archaeologist: I find that very interesting too! In my spare time I do a lot of sports and I enjoy taking beautiful pictures of and in nature.

As a child of pioneers in Flevoland, my childhood was laced with "creating. Making the impossible possible. According to my father, 'can't' didn't exist. For my studies HEAO communication in Eindhoven I left at the age of 18eI left the parental pioneer nest and flew out. After my studies I worked for more than 10 years in the world of advertising on the agency side; first as an Account Manager and later as Account Director.

In 2004, I joined my husband Paul in the business of Art Dumay (est 2000). I found his passion for art and his freedom as an entrepreneur very appealing. Now, 18 years after this switch, I am still involved in finance, communication and marketing and running Art Dumay. The joy in the growth of our company, creating together with a beautiful team and being surrounded daily with beauty of art; that is what drives me. Recently I became a big fan of padel. Put me on that padel court and I'm happy!

Art? I was brought up on it. I grew up with it and in between. My family had several galleries in the Netherlands and as a child I visited Corneille and Karel Appel and got to know the art world. After studying at the AMFI in Amsterdam, I joined our family business. In addition to my then job as a gallery owner, I began to study the auction business. I studied at Sotheby's Institute of Art in London and did an internship at Phillips auctioneers.

After my adventure in London, I came into contact with Paul Dumay and with him there was a huge click. Where he focuses on classical art, I focus on modern art. Meanwhile I am Executive Manager and I lead Art Dumay for now and with an eye to the future. In my spare time I can be found on the golf course or in the stands of my club PSV, because I am and will remain a real Eindhoven native!

With a mother who is an art historian and from a family of collectors, my passion for history, art and antiques was instilled in me. During my history studies I worked as an auctioneer at Van Stockum's Auctions in The Hague. This is where I learned the ropes of the trade. A whole new world of art opened up to me! After finishing my master at the UvA I started working at Catawiki.

After years of working with great pleasure in the online auction world as an account manager, I missed the customer contact and having art in my hands. That is why I switched to Art Dumay over two years ago, where customer contact is central and I surround myself with art every day. I find relaxation in sports: climbing, running and I can also be found in my kayak in and around the waters of Amsterdam on a weekly basis. These hobbies form a good balance for the focus and detail in my work.

My name is Marjolein, mother of three beautiful children and since 5 years living in the beautiful cozy Nuenen.

After 14 years of working in health care as a social pedagogical employee I was looking for a new challenge. I was at a 'change of direction' moment. Given my talents in organizing combined with the calmness with which I tackle things, the meeting with Paul and Melanie Dumay proved fruitful. They offer me the opportunity to take this new step in my life and use my talents at Art Dumay. As of August 15, 2022, I started, with great pleasure, as Chief Hapiness Officer. Here I am Art Dumay's first point of contact for relations and clients but also for the entire team. As a spider in the web I will manage the office management. I wish you a warm welcome at Art Dumay. The coffee/tea is ready!

Analyze, analyze, analyze, I can't get enough of it. Every day when I am at work I look with a smile at wwich developments and challenges there are. How can processes become more efficient, how can we improve our customer experience even more. With my training as a chemical engineer and as an entrepreneurial son, this has been instilled in me from an early age.

A critical attitude towards yourselfyour own research, to get the most out of it, that's what I go for every day. This discipline I perform next to my part-time job and my studies also in my swimming, you can find me 15 hours a week in the water to get the maximum out of myself. Nobody expected that when I was 4 years old. boy I came running out of the water crying with fear of water and for this I spent 2 years in water habituation therapy! In short everything is possible if you work hard enough!

I come from a semi creative family where creativity expresses itself differently in each person. For me creativity is in images, as a child I got a disposable camera which I used to enjoy the whole vacation. But during my photography education at SintLucas I could really develop myself as a photographer.

After working as a fashion photographer for 6 years, I have now completely found my niche as an art photographer.

I prefer to be behind the camera rather than in front of it. Taking the most beautiful pictures of a work of art and capturing the details of that particular work of art, time and time again: that is what drives me.

It's Only Rock 'n Roll But I Like It.... My taste in music is proof of that: I am a big fan of The Rolling Stones.Playing my guitar and listening to good rock music makes me a happy person.

Besides my studies in International Business, I work at Art Dumay an average of 12 hours a week. I started 1.5 years ago as a logistician: twice a week I take care of a good and solid packing of the artworks that Art Dumay sends worldwide. I also take care of the handling of the various shipping companies so that our customers receive their purchased artwork as soon as possible at home, anywhere in the world!

Meanwhile, I have grown to be responsible for the logistics department and I supervise 2 other packers with their work. In addition, I can develop myself at Art Dumay because I am given the opportunity to work on the site every week, optimize the webshop and set the SEO as well as possible. I love that, also because it fits with my education, but personally that is where my drive lies. Besides studying and working I can be found almost daily in the gym, also there I have goals I want to achieve!

'Don't sit behind the geraniums, you'll get old fast' is my motto. Although I have been retired for a long time I still don't want to sit at home, despite being almost 80.

My condition is good, so is my health and my brain still works perfectly. That together with my golden hands ensures that I can perform beautiful tasks for my daughter and son-in-law at Art Dumay.

I deal with maintenance in the building and develop, draw and build where necessary things they need in the building. For the rest I try to keep things orderly and tidy. So much happens at Art Dumay every day that keeping things in order is important. I still do that with a lot of pleasure. In my spare time I like to go cycling with my wifeor alone for long distances on my racing bike.
