Johannes Wouterus van Trirum (1924-2011) - Five playing kittens

It is a fine spectacle skillfully put together, but most of all endearing to watch. The curiosity of the kittens is unstoppable. The black kitten (right) is not immediately noticeable, which shows the skill of the artist.

Johannes Wouterus (Jan) van Trirum (1924-2011) lived and worked in Rotterdam. He made study trips to Italy and France (Paris), and was a student at the Akademie voor Beeldende Kunsten in Rotterdam.
Johannes van Trirum painted and sculpted, mainly portraits, still lifes and landscapes. He later painted in a more romantic-naturalistic manner, with mostly playing kittens and cats as subject matter. This is also the theme of the offered painting; five playing kittens surrounded by Persian carpets and oriental brassware.
